About Us

Brief History of GoldNET

GoldNET is a home-based family business with almost a decade of experience in web development. It started as a hobby, became a night job, and eventually full time job for the two of us (Sasha & Beti Andrić). Ocassionally we had other people on the team, but most of the time it is just us.

The business was first registered as 3V World, then we realized that name was a toungue-breaker even for people whose first language was English. In the year 2000 our friend Malik (we like to call him the godfather of GoldNET), came up with the new name, then we added "Smart Technologies". We have been operating under that name ever since.

The original idea was that hosting would be our primary service, but we quickly realized that design and development is much more exciting.

Today we are proud to say that we have close to a hundred projects behind us, with clients all across North America, and overseas in Croatia and Italy.

Here is our elevator pitch:

GoldNET is a website development and custom programming company with years of experience. Over the time our expert team has been, and still is, constantly committed to learning and obtaining new skills, mastering the latest design and development technologies, with superb results.

We take pride in our ability to assess a client’s needs and preferences. During the course of a project we work closely with the client, making sure we are on the right track at all milestones. The result is always a unique product which represents the given business in the best possible way, and provides all needed functionality.

This is us:

Sasha Sasha

the gray eminence of GoldNET, programmer, designer, planner, consultant, PHP guru, Linux sensei, protector of servers, savior of networks

Sasha's first computer was a ZX-Spectrum 48k, in 1981. Ever since then he's been in love with computers and what they can do. His most recent experience includes:

  • Server maintenance, Linux: intrusion detection, prevention and recovery; software installation, configuration and updates; helping with the Sorcerer Linux distribution (now known as SourceMage GNU Linux)
  • PHP programming: web development, database design, Internet applications
  • Fluent in Perl, PHP, BASH, awk, JavaScript

Sasha was one of the first thousand geeks to get the MCSE 2k certification from Microsoft, and was awarded an Early Achiever Certificate for that accomplishment. However, he has since abandoned MS technology, and embraced Linux.

Beti

Beti

the good fairy of GoldNET, designer, artist, manager, organizer, conceptual planner, bookkeeper, advisor, PR and CS person

Beti's computer beginnings date in the early 80s, when she learned cobol, Fortran and BASIC. However, having an artist's soul she has leaned more towards graphic design over the years. Her latest experience includes:

  • Graphic design: Adobe applications
  • Scripting: XHTML, JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets
  • Numerous office applications

Among other educational endevours, Beti has completed the Management Development Program for Women, a certificate program at UPEI, a few years ago. She is an active community member, and currently volunteers with a couple of local non-profit organizations.
